Swedish Saffron Buns

Swedish saffron buns are a festive treat that brings the warmth and aroma of holiday traditions into the home. Infused with golden saffron and lightly spiced with cardamom, these soft, pillowy buns are braided into delicate S-shapes and topped with sweet raisins, making them as visually charming as they are flavorful. Traditionally enjoyed during the Christmas season, they capture the spirit of Scandinavian celebrations, where the combination of fragrant spices and tender baked dough evokes cozy, joyful moments shared with family and friends.

Beyond their seasonal charm, these buns provide a thoughtful balance of nutrients. Greek yogurt and eggs add protein and contribute to a tender, moist crumb, while milk offers calcium and B-vitamins. Saffron and cardamom lend antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and the use of psyllium husk adds fiber to support digestion. Lightly sweetened with honey and sugar, these buns deliver festive indulgence with a subtle nutritional boost, making them a comforting yet mindful holiday treat.
